About the Book: Cinasthana Today: Viewing China from an Indian Eye Cinasthana Today presents China, dating back from the regime ofChandragupta, when it was known as Cina-sthana, to its currentstatus as an economic power. It covers China without bias andwithout fear, by focussing on the people of China and their lifetoday, tracing back to its ancient historic moments and progressingtowards its current scenario, with constant referencing ofcontemporary India. Cinasthana Today is backed by the authors keen observation andlong association with China since 1983. In 1988, as theTechnological Advisor to the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, hebriefed him about Chinas fast export-led growth via the SpecialEconomic Zones in Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Shantou. for more than adecade now, the author has been the President of the India-ChinaEconomic and Cultural Council (ICECC), New Delhi. This book aims at benefitting both India and China by positivelyinfluencing public opinion. The author projects the cultural, economic and social similarities of these two ancient civilizationswhich share very similar community bonds. Foreign dominance for athousand years, the language barrier and Himalayas have kept thetwo nations apart, but Cinasthana Today will hopefully overcomethese hurdles for a new, mutually progressive tomorrow.
