N2 - The Indica of Megasthenes by S. R. Goyal examines the writings of the Greek ambassador Megasthenes, who visited the court of Chandragupta Maurya. It discusses his observations on Mauryan administration, society, economy, cities, customs, religion, geography, and political institutions. The book evaluates Megasthenes’ account as an important source for reconstructing the history and civilization of ancient India during the Mauryan period
