This archaeological report presents the results of excavations at Hallur, an important prehistoric/protohistoric site in the Tungabhadra Valley of Karnataka. It examines the cultural sequence from the Neolithic through the Chalcolithic and early Iron Age, including pottery, stone tools, metal objects, animal remains, plant remains, burials and settlement evidence. The Hallur excavations are particularly significant for understanding the early use of iron, agriculture and changing cultural traditions in South India.
