N2 - A History of the Jana Natya Manch: Plays for the People by Arjun Ghosh is a detailed study of the evolution of the Jana Natya Manch (popularly called Janam), one of India’s most influential political theatre groups. The book traces the organization’s journey from its founding in 1973 in Delhi to its growth as a major force in Indian street theatre and political activism.

The author explains how Janam emerged from the legacy of the Indian People's Theatre Association and aimed to bring theatre directly to ordinary people rather than limiting performances to formal stages. The group performed in streets, factories, villages, and public spaces, using theatre as a tool for political awareness and social change
