While wars persist, contemporary power increasingly operates without direct conflict. States may remain formally sovereign while their strategic choices narrow, institutions weaken, and independent capacity erodes gradually.

Noctavium presents a framework for understanding this sub-lethal form of influence through economic networks, institutional structures, information environments, and algorithmic systems that constrain a state’s viable choices over time.

It reframes sovereignty as a product of systemic vitality and geopolitical struggle as a “thermodynamics of capture,” where engineered dependency, cognitive fragmentation, and institutional entropy can hollow out states without overt conquest.

By shifting strategic analysis from episodic violence to chronic systemic strain, Noctavium identifies a form of silent domination that traditional theories of international relations have largely overlooked.
